This past week I went on assignment for Phoenix Magazine to photograph the homeless in the Flagstaff area. Living in Flagstaff, conversations about the homeless abound. Why? How can I do something? Where do they sleep? Is help available? All of these topics have been brought up around coffee, dinner, bike rides and walking down the street. People in Flagstaff care about the people in their community, including the homeless. While I don't usually photograph stories like this, I took the chance to ascertain some of these questions.
I went out on the assignment with Catholic Charities volunteer, Ted Martello. Ted is a selfless man who helps the homeless veterans with basic human needs like shelter and food.
